Using Authorized Sites Feature In Google Adsense

By on June 11, 2013

I have previous written articles on how to track as well as detect Invalid Click Activity in Google Adsense. But i have been asked what next? what do we do next after detecting invalid click activity?

So here’s my new post. In this post i am going to talk about how to use the Authorized Sites feature in Google AdSense in case of Invalid Click Activity.

Note that it is completely your responsibility to protect your account from invalid clicks. And if you fail to do so, it will result in direct ban from AdSense.

The very first step is to disable advertisements on your site. And when i say disable, i don’t mean removing advertisements completely off your site.

When you are getting invalid clicks, the best way is to disable ads is by using authorized sites feature. This feature will keep the ads live on site but clicks wont be considered. Thus preventing invalid clicks.

  1. You can find this feature in Google Adsense > Account Settings > Access and Authorization > Sites authorized to show ads.
  2. Here select ‘Only allow certain sites to show ads for my account‘ option.
  3. And in the box below. Add site such as www.google.com. And if your site is present, remove it.
  4. Save the changes.
  5. Now your site will no longer be authorized for your ads. Which means ads will still display on your site but clicks wont be considered.

You might be wondering, what’s the use of doing this? The point is, when you are under invalid click attack, the first step is to disable ads using authorized sites feature. And then investigate or figure out what exactly is causing invalid clicks. This way your account will remain safe and you will get enough time to find the cause of invalid clicks.

Once you are done with your investigation. You can then report invalid clicks to Google by following this link. If you have any questions regarding invalid clicks or the report form, you can ask them here in Official AdSense forum.
